AM PM Telecommunications rigger working at height on a tower

Telecommunications infrastructure, built where it's hardest to reach.

From CBD rooftops to alpine peaks only a helicopter can service — AM PM Telecommunications delivers civil works, rigging, commissioning and fibre for Australia's carrier and infrastructure networks.

Since 2009

One contractor, the whole build.

Design and feasibility, civil works and foundations, rigging at height, commissioning and testing, then ongoing maintenance — handled by one accountable team rather than five subcontractors.

AM PM Telecommunications director working at height

Who we are

Run by someone who's still on the tools.

AM PM was started by a rigger, not an office. Fifteen-plus years on, the director is still on site and up the tower — which is why the work gets specified, priced and delivered by people who understand what it actually takes.

We're not the biggest name in telecommunications infrastructure — we're the one that turns up, does it properly, and stands behind it. Every job is planned, executed and signed off to the same standard, whether it's a single antenna swap or a multi-carrier build. No shortcuts, no half-finished work — just quality delivered by people who take it personally.

From the tools to the company — in my own words.

Fifteen-plus years delivering telecommunications infrastructure across NSW and regional Australia.

Our story

Before AM PM existed, I was working in the field for someone else. That's where this whole thing started for me. I'd watch a site go from bare dirt to a standing tower carrying a national network, and I couldn't get over how impressive that infrastructure was. I knew pretty quickly that this was the work I wanted to build a career around.

I got my rigging and dogging qualifications in 2007 — dogging, advanced rigging, crane scheduling, elevated work platforms and OH&S — and spent years learning the trade properly on live sites with another team. Once I had the experience behind me, I went out on my own. It started with my own gear. Then a crew. Then the clients, the compliance, the paperwork and everything else that comes with running a real infrastructure business.

Since founding AM PM Telecommunications in 2009, I've grown it into a company that's worked for Telstra, Optus and Vodafone, and alongside major infrastructure players like UGL, Downer, Ausgrid and TransGrid. What hasn't changed is that I'm still on the tools with the team, still climbing, still on site through the journey of running the business. I think that's the difference — when I quote a job, I know exactly what's involved, because I'll likely be up there doing it.

None of it happens on my own, though. The team on the tools are the ones actually getting the work done on site, and looking after them properly — training, gear, being straight with them — matters to me as much as looking after the clients. It's a team effort from the ground up, and that's how we keep delivering the standard we're known for.

How we work

Every stage, accounted for.

01

Survey & Feasibility

Access, structural conditions and coverage requirements assessed before a foundation is poured.

02

Design & Planning

Engineered against carrier specification — foundations, mounts, cable runs and power mapped in advance.

03

Civil Works & Rigging

Foundations, tower and headframe installation, antenna and feeder mounting — to height-safety standard.

04

Commissioning & Testing

BTS commissioning, sweep and PIM testing, fibre testing — proving the site performs before it goes live.

05

Handover & Maintenance

Documentation, QA sign-off and ongoing maintenance so the site keeps performing for years.

Thredbo Alpine Headframe Replacement

Sector
Remote / Alpine Infrastructure
Location
Thredbo, NSW

Thredbo sits high in the Snowy Mountains, and the site's terrain ruled out crane access entirely. To replace the existing headframe, the new assembly was rigged on the ground, flown in beneath a medium-lift helicopter on a longline, and landed directly onto the mast head by crew waiting at height. Alpine conditions leave a narrow weather window, so the lift had to be planned precisely and executed first time.

Sydney Metro — Rail Corridor Communications

Sector
Rail & Transport
Location
Sydney, NSW

Delivered through UGL as part of the Sydney Metro program, this work involved installing the communications systems that run the length of the rail corridor. That covered data fibre and sensor fibre feeding back to trackside data centres and the automated train control system, along with the CCTV, cabinets, solar power and civil works that support it. All of it inside a live rail corridor — tight possession windows, strict safety controls, and limited access.

Data Centre Services

Specialist rigging, equipment movement and installation support for data centre environments.

Capability

Heavy equipment, precise placement.

Data centre work rewards the same discipline as tower work: careful load handling, controlled movement and getting it exactly right the first time. AM PM brings rigging capability and specialist labour into data centre environments — moving and positioning equipment, supporting rack builds, and providing crews for project-based installation work.

Our switchboard installation scope has covered boards ranging from two to three and a half tonnes — moved and positioned using purpose-suited rigging and lifting techniques for the load, the access constraints and the surrounding equipment. This work has been delivered alongside specialist electrical contractor Nilsen on data centre board installations.

  • Specialist rigging and load handling
  • Equipment movement and positioning
  • Board movement and placement — up to 3.5t
  • Rack installation and fit-out support
  • Structured cabling and patching support
  • Project-based specialist labour

Labour Hire

Experienced telecommunications and rigging crews, available for project-based work.

What we provide

Skilled crews, not general labour.

AM PM supplies personnel who have done the work on live carrier, rail and utility sites — riggers, installers and technical crews who understand site protocols, safety requirements and what “finished properly” actually looks like.

  • Telecommunications labour
  • Rigging personnel
  • Installation crews
  • Civil and greenfield crews
  • Data centre and board movement crews
  • Fibre technicians
  • Equipment movement crews
  • Technical installation personnel

Where we support projects

Environments our crews already work in.

  • Live rail corridors under possession protocols
  • Carrier mobile network sites — towers, rooftops, monopoles
  • Greenfield and remote regional builds
  • Data centres and communications rooms
  • Utility and energy infrastructure
  • Night works and outage windows
